AI-Generated content should be in the public domain

March 20, 20251 Minutes

There is no stopping the Ai; questions about the ownership and copyright of AI-generated content are something we all talk about. I support the argument that such content should belong to the public domain and it cannot be copyright restrictions.

Most of us embrace the new tech (as a useful coworker) in our daily workload. But we do know that the content is not really ours. Of course, it feels great when you explore AI content and it fits your idea, but has it created something that feels original? It did, but it was trained on copyrighted material. Those artists will never be paid, they don’t even know it was taken from them—we know how the world turns. Copyright laws are made to protect creative work, but currently, our work is a mix of everything.

AI-generated content in the public domain feels like the only option. If AI-created works were freely available, we could all use them, and we could all benefit from them, as they should be easily accessible.

As AI continues to evolve, establishing clear policies on content ownership is crucial, so it will benefit society as a whole.
