How do you honor three generations of fish farming tradition while making it relevant for today’s market?

Heritage brand identity design challenges us to balance respect for tradition with market relevance. We transformed Studenec’s three-generation fish farming legacy into visual storytelling that positions them as artisans rather than suppliers, proving that heritage brand identity design can elevate traditional businesses.

Client: Studenec

The heritage.

The Goričar family has bred freshwater fish since 1978 in Slovenia’s Gorjanci hills, passing methods through three generations. We needed to capture both their traditional approach and pristine location in visual form that spoke authenticity without feeling dated.

The mark.

We rooted the identity in their source—the clear well that feeds their ponds. We chose clean typography that reflects their precise methods and natural colors that echo the landscape where their fish thrive.

Outcome.

Studenec now positions as artisans rather than suppliers, attracting customers who value heritage-driven quality.

Three generations of fish farming cannot be faked.

The Why behind Studenec was positioning authenticity in a market full of industrial suppliers. The Goričar family has bred freshwater fish in Slovenia’s Gorjanci hills since 1978, but their visual presence said commodity, not craft. The What — a complete heritage brand identity — needed to make their three-generation knowledge visible to premium buyers. The How: we built everything from their source, the clear well that feeds their ponds. Not metaphorically. Literally. The mark abstracts water movement into geometric forms that feel both timeless and precise. The Values are patience, purity, and generational knowledge passed through hands, not manuals.

The Design works because it refuses to apologize for being traditional. The color palette pulls directly from their environment — slate grays of mountain stone, clear blues of spring water. Typography stays clean and unfussy. We positioned them as artisans, not suppliers, because that is what three generations of specialized knowledge actually makes you. The Story writes itself when authenticity has proof: forty-five years of the same family, same methods, same pristine location. We just made it visible.

GOOD DESIGN IS FOR GOOD CLIENTS.

Definition of a brand

Most agencies think brands are logos and colors. But what if a brand is actually the meaning that forms in your audience's mind?

We use craft in every project. Not as decoration. Not as nostalgia. As a way of thinking.

Real design happens in the messy hours before answers emerge—where ideas stop being clever and start becoming honest through actual making.
