How do you package a 200-year-old distilled spirit that takes two years to make?

Letterpress packaging design creates authentic connections between traditional craft and modern spirits. For Ekola’s Dohtar, we developed letterpress packaging design that honors ancient distilling processes and regional heritage.

Client: Ekola

The brief.

Ekola’s Dohtar is distilled from 38 plants that grow in Kras. The process takes two years. We needed packaging that honored this ancient craft and the spirit’s connection to the land.

The craft.

We found Ataneja typography at Tiporenesansa — letters roughly 200 years old, never digitized. Hand-set letterpress printing created the labels. Wooden stamps and dry stamps finished each package by hand.

Outcome.

A package as carefully crafted as the spirit inside. Each bottle becomes a collector’s piece that celebrates traditional methods.
